DISPUT is a work that exposes phonetic similarities across language boundaries as contrary content. The monotonous sound quickly has a meditative effect. The uniformity of the phonetics seems to point into the endless. After a closer examination of the work, one finds that the performers throw “yes” and “no” at each other. This contrast is created by the similar sound of the words, which conveys a unison. (for example: Korean Ja = Nee , German Nein = Ne) etc. The work Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee by Joseph BEUYS has had an initial impulse on DISPUT Another impetus was various political situations that present the dual conflict between what is heard and what is meant, even within the same language understanding.
