Breath

This work looks like a gigantic natural object, reminiscent of clouds, waves, or a snail – anything in nature that is curvy and wavy. This organic-shape sculpture made with bamboo is titled, “Breath” – a cycle of inhaling and exhaling. We cannot live if we only inhale the air we need; we must return the air that we took in back to the nature. Just as the continuous breathing in and out extends life, PARK’s work also extends the mutual communication and symbiosis between human and nature. Installed in Yongji Park, an artificial garden situated in the middle of a city, this sculpture encourages us to contemplate a future where City, Human, and Nature co-exist in harmony.
