Round and Round
This is a light and flexible sculpture made of needlework of copper wires. Those sculptures hung from the ceiling are in many shapes that look “the same but different,” taking different forms and needlework. A work of art composed of many “same or different elements” is called “multiple art.” Some of those look like pine cones, and some look like unknown organisms. They sometimes move lightly like mobiles to the movement of air created when visitors walk around them. They spin “round and round” just as the title indicates. Visitors can reflect their mind that lingers inside them onto those sculptures. The visitors can simply enjoy the pleasure of encountering something beautiful, remembering a game they played when they were little, or many other things they can imagine from this work. YANG wishes numerous and diverse unshaped stories will be created out of visitors’ encounter with her work - which explains the title very well, “Round and round.”
