One Mind-Border Crossing, Onsaemiro

LEE collects small natural objects and handcrafts from overseas trips as souvenirs and transform them into a work of art. Mundane objects like a small old tree trunk, wild tree fruits from a forest, pebbles and shells from a beach, water from a tourist destination inside a plastic bottle, and rusty wires from DMZ are displayed on the sand taken from Changwon seashore. Those odds and ends are made into an art on this sandy stage. LEE faces squarely the current reality, never being afraid of making artistic statements, and always puts her words into action. In this sense, she herself practices onsaemiro, which means “to make it as it is, without dividing or splitting.”
