Hybrid Sensorium

What looks like a fruit or an unidentifiable organic structure hangs from the ceiling. The hole on the surface looks inviting. The mysterious ambiance encourages visitors to take a peek into the hole. A digital device hidden inside this hybrid organism detects a viewer’s movement and responds in real-time to the rhythm of their breathing. Although the structure operates based on a fixed program, it is a reminder that sculpture can be like a living organism, constantly changing and evolving. In this sense, this is a work of interactive media art that relies on the participation of a spectator.
