The Root of Memories

This work introduces the concept of non-sculptural creases. Lightweight materials such as lacquered traditional Korean paper and natural-dyed ramie and hemp are folded and handsewn in creases. They hang from the ceiling and let gravity take them down, slowly unfolding their shapes. Curled up like a silkworm, the installation tantalizes viewers with a fine play between folding and unfolding, and hiding and revealing.
