Fabric is light or flexible. Whatever it covers, it shields the hidden object’s identity and softens or mystifies it, like a piece of gauze covering a wound. But sometimes, it can come off as violent. This work consists of everyday objects stacked or interlaced into a form, covered with tent fabric, roped around in several areas, and cast in plaster. This process managed to soften the contour of an object, but it entails violence in that it conceals and suppresses the natural expression of the object. To some, this could be seen as an image of a dead body or something that arouses fear. How did you feel about this work?
