Marc Quinn’s ‘Self’ came close to being here
On the wall, the text made of neon, "Marc Quinn's ‘Self’ came close to being here" is written, and the light flashes, creating a precarious situation. Self is a famous self-portrait created by yBa artist Marc Quinn in his own blood. The artistic director, the two curators and the two coordinators came together to present a piece of work reflecting the challenges of curatorial practice. The group was named Hypermanics, which is often used as a noun to refer to "severely agreeable people," meaning "those with mild mania, or consternation." While overflowing with energy and ideas, there are many cases where people overdo it by being talkative or distracting, and with a passion for goals, but the experience of failure gives birth to new vitality. The curatorial team is supposed to present this meaning through the work.
