Wall clock(Hairs)
A wall clock of hair is gushing out of a wide frame, as if someone is sticking out a tongue. It is an awkward image at best. Normally, we don’t frame human hair as a keepsake. The unlikely mix of a wall clock and hair is the product of dépaysement, a technique often practiced by surrealist artists. The term dépaysement means unfamiliarity or more often banishment. The technique pursues banishment from a familiar place. Banishment is executed through a displacement to another place or a shift away from a familiar size. The image of a wall clock of hair comes as an eerie shock, as it is stuck inside a small wall clock. The element of dépaysement tweaks the properties of an object, producing uncanny or grotesque feelings.
