This work seems like the sculpture with which that we are already familiar. It looks like a mother holding a child or a couple hugging each other. Look closer, and you’ll notice that the artist omitted facial features and other details. The essence of Korean aesthetics was defined as naturalism by art historian Won-Yong KIM and as atypicality, asymmetry, and artless art by another art historian Yu-Seop KO. The sculpture seemingly embodies these definitions. It also makes a reference to the aesthetics of immateriality in Eastern philosophy, which values process over results and prefers incompleteness over completeness.
