Tied Stone

It seems that LEE pulled off a magic trick to transform the stones, which are hard, into cushion-like soft materials. In fact, he carved a crack into the natural stone and wrapped a wire around it. The work debunks our preconception that happens when our brain interprets what we see, as if our conception is driven by inertia. It is a stone, but it doesn’t look like one. It’s physically impossible for a stone to bring this strange, surreal result, yet it does. These are the “inertial thoughts” that run through our minds when we encounter this work. The artist’s bold imagination comes to life, as it challenges and puts a new spin on fixed matterness.
