What do you think about this piece? Is it beautiful? Is it mysterious? RYABCHENKO was born to an artist family in Odessa, Ukraine. His grandfather was a famous graphic artist during the Soviet Union era and his father is one of the most renown Ukrainian artists of today. Naturally, he was exposed to both the old and new media early on in his life. He presents a work that delves into the harmony and relationship between the environment in the digital nature and mankind. The Virtual Garden series is comprised of anthropomorphic flower characters inhabiting minimalist virtual landscapes. This is the first time RYABCHENKO’s work is shown in Korea. In the video, the delicate movement of the petals and mouth of a flower that would only exist in the fantasy world is the outcome of a successful collaboration with his brother Sergey Ryabchenko who performed in the piece as well as developed the atmospheric soundtrack. Each character in the video is given a particular personality, myth, and stories. In this piece, Fiolent Crystal Baby is the newest resident of this virtual habitat. It is a wild living being that emerges out of water in a thin fog to release peace and serenity. By its autonomous existence, Fiolent Crystal Baby differentiates itself from the existing and more popular perception about avatars on screen.
