We Mammals
Hair is an integral part of human and mammals and it is a symbol of life. Hair is not something you can attach - it grows. To illustrate this growing process, MITSUNORI invented a hair-growing panel and created a proper environment that best expresses the growing hair. Also, the artist added even more realism by adding a process of a chainsaw shaving the hair. He takes great interest in the emotional distance between people and the boundary between artwork and reality. So, he studies how he could best demonstrate the way hair grows in his work. And, for this, he made sure the wood grain will splinter out when the panel (or plywood) is cut. This piece shows how sawdust coming off of the chainsaw would grow like hair.
